Bonhoeffer made an interesting distinction between the “language of Zion” (internal theological language essential for communication in the Christian community) and “non religious communication of biblical truth.” I like this. But what troubles me is the almost complete loss of Christian vocabulary within the Church. Lazy pastoral instruction is partly to blame, but also big cultural forces that are difficult to contend against.
